Volunteer and Interns

Volunteering—Give a Little.  Gain A LOT!

Volunteering at Connection of Friends is a means to provide each participant with natural social modeling and opportunities to engage.  Volunteers motivate our participants to use their developing social skills and offer support as they build a network of friends in the community.  COF promotes independence in our participants and is not an organization that uses a hand-over-hand technique.  Visual supports and communication devices are welcome to ensure that each participant is able to engage fully within the program and all volunteers will receive training prior to working with our participants.

Saturday Night Socials—5:30-9:00 pm

Saturdays are all about socialization and having fun! Each Saturday is a different themed party where we spend our evenings engaging in dinner conversation, having fun in 3 different activity rotations led by volunteers and dancing!

Dinner & Dancing with Friends—Monday 3:00-6:00 pm

Dinner & Dancing with Friends focuses on the preparation and eating of an evening meal. Participants not only prepare dinner, but continue to work on a variety of life skill activities including table manners, table conversation and cleaning up.  Come cook a meal and learn some new moves with us!
