Support

Ratios

We operate primarily as a 3 participant to 1 staff or volunteer, but do offer more individualized, assigned support on a limited basis when needed during week-day programming. Additional support is not available for our Saturday Night Socials and is staffed as a 3:1 ratio.

During the week, our 3 hour section size remains small, (capping at either 4, 5 or 6 participants depending on which day), allowing all our participants to benefit.

Participants need to be able to toilet independently.   All medical conditions will be assessed individually and the Program Director will determine the support needed upon completion of the in-take process.

Participant Support

A participant’s staffing ratio is determined after speaking with the required two references and completion of the in-take with the Executive Director and Program Director.

Currently, additional staffing support is limited:

  • Monday-Friday: 1 participant who is in need of extra support per 3 or 6  hour session
  • Additional support is not available for Saturday Night Socials

MONDAY HOURS

  • Noon-3:00 pm or
  • Dinner & Dancing with Friends from 3-6:00 pm and capped at 4 participants

TUESDAY HOURS—Community Volunteering

  • 9:00 am-3:00 pm–capped at 5 participants

WEDNESDAY & THURSDAY HOURS

  • Noon-6:00 pm
  • Noon-3:00 pm—capped at 6 participants
  • 3:00-6:00 pm—capped at 6 participants

FRIDAY HOURS—Community Volunteering

  • Friday Hours are 9:00 am-3:00 pm—capped at 5 participants

SATURDAY NIGHT SOCIALS

  • 6:00-9:00 pm—capped at 9 participants

Constant Communication

Connection of Friends is committed to supporting our participants so they can successfully navigate the variety of activities offered during programming. Staff speaks to families regularly to not only share successes, but to actively problem solve any challenges seen during programming.

At the end of each session, families receive a Session Highlights form that provides an overview of participant successes, areas of challenge and how we are problem solving those challenges for the following session

Support Materials

We offer a wide variety of individualized supports, (both written and visual), to help our participants remain engaged and organized. Supports include schedules, sequential “steps, (recipes, job tasks), as well as behavior supports, (Expected/Unexpected).
